Perils at Petrolia

A melodrama by Rita Baker
Remount of a play first produced by Petrolia Players (a precursor to Petrolia Community Theatre) in March 1976

Join us for a happily-ever-after, old-fashioned melodrama.

Based around an oil well, this story of heroines and villains, takes you for a fun-filled evening of poor plotting by our nearly broke villain, Syndey Slick, who is told by a gypsy that Henry Fairburn's oil well is about to 'come in' and make the owner very rich.

Sydney, hoping to get rich quick with very little effort, tries to buy the well, but Henry won't sell. Syndey is not one to let a little word like "no" stand in between him and wealth. He
starts plotting and won't let a little thing like murder stand in his way. But will he
succeed?

Several love interests are threaded through the story. Emmeline falls in love with
Charles, but her mother Florence, thinks she can do better. Maud hopes for the
affections of Eureka, but he hasn't grasped the concept of courting, let alone,
marriage!

Music, mayhem and a heroine tied to the tracks... no wait, this is Petrolia and she is
tied to an oil well. Who will save her? Come out and see!
